The Board of County Commissioners
met in special session at 1:00 p.m. with all members and the chief deputy clerk
present. The meeting was called to
accept the bid on repair of the screening plant, to review the county’s drug
and alcohol policy, discuss yield signs versus stop signs on Road 15, to review
a road crossing permit, and to discuss addendums to the building project at the
fairgrounds.
Frank Goldsby, Public Works
Administrator, Tom Kramer, Road Foreman, Steve Eddie, Steve Eddie Machine and
Robert Myers, Central States Mechanical were present. Bids were as follows: Steve Eddie Machine $12,839.40, Larry’s
Welding Service $14,240.00, M&N Welding & Machine for $5,995.00,
Central States Mechanical for $12,340.00.
Gene Schwein made the motion to accept the low bid from M&N Welding
for $5,995.00 upon contingency the bid will fulfill requirements of the
contract. If M&N Welding is unable
to follow contract requirements Central States Mechanical with the bid of
$12,340.00 will be accepted. Carl Higgs
seconded the motion and it passed unanimously.
The commissioners and Tom Kramer contacted Mike Blackmore and he will
comply as specified in the bid contract.
Frank Goldsby presented a new Drug
& Alcohol Policy that was sent to him by The Consortium for approval. Carl Higgs made the motion to approve the
Drug & Alcohol Policy as submitted with inclusions made by Frank
Goldsby. Gene Schwein seconded the
motion and it passed unanimously.
Gene Schwein made the motion to
rescind a resolution for yield signs in two locations on Road 15. Carl Higgs seconded the motion and it passed
unanimously. A resolution will be
written to place stop signs at those locations and add two more stop signs on
that road.
The commissioners reviewed and
approved a road-crossing permit for Santa Fe Dairy.
Carl Higgs made the motion to
accept an addendum to bid documents to the Fairgrounds Metal Building
Project. Gene Schwein seconded the
motion and it passed unanimously.
Addendum items are:
A. Specifications
1.Delete Sec. #1 (one) Paragraph
(four).
Change to read: The placement of the steel supports
(columns) for this building, if required, will match the bay sizes of the
existing structure. This building shall
have a minimum center open-space of 65’-0” x 75’0”.
B. Specifications
1.
Delete Sec. #5 (five) paragraph 3 (three).
Change to read: The New Building shall match the existing
building with respect to the following:
height, color, style, 26 gauge, and the metal pattern (section) shall be
of comparable strength.
The commissioners adjourned at 2:15
p.m. to meet again in regular session on May 7, 2002.
