            The Board of County Commissioners met in regular session at 9:30 a.m. with all members and the County Clerk present.

 

            Marty Long made the motion to approve the minutes of the February 7, 2006 minutes and the claims against the various funds of the county. Carl Higgs seconded the motion and it passed unanimously.

 

            Robin Hathaway, County Attorney, and Tom Kramer, Road Department Administrator, met with the commissioners. Carl Higgs made the motion to recess into executive session for 30 minutes for the purpose of discussing non-elected personnel. Marty Long seconded the motion and it passed unanimously. After 30 minutes the meeting continued in open session. In other business, Ms. Hathaway, said she researched the dog resolution issue and has determined that the resolution could be passed for the three-mile zoning area around the city. She said an inter-local agreement would need to be worked out between the city and county, and that she and the city attorney would draft the agreement based on whatever the commissioners and council decide.

 

            David Wagner, Transfer Station Manager, Tom Kramer, Road Department Administrator, and Luie Diaz, Shop Foreman, presented information on new and used dump trucks. Based on the recommendations of the department heads, Marty Long made the motion to put a rebuilt engine in the county’s old dump truck at a cost of approximately $6,000.00 instead of purchasing a different truck. Carl Higgs seconded the motion and it passed unanimously. Mr. Wagner was given approval to advertise to sell his old pickup.

 

            Tom Kramer, Road Department Administrator, talked to the commissioners about asphalt needs for this year. He mentioned that sealing sand bids would also be taken later. Mr. Kramer reported that he budgeted for a new dozer for this year. This meeting was for informational purposes and no decisions were made.

 

            Due to the increased duties and responsibilities of the Emergency Management Coordinator, Carl Higgs made the motion to increase Don Button’s rate of pay by $1.00 per hour. Marty Long seconded the motion and it passed unanimously.

 

            Jerry Jo Deckert, Emergency Medical Service Director, gave an update on her department. She reported that work has started on their remodeling project. After reviewing quotes for carpet and tile for the project, Marty Long made the motion to accept the quote from Shop at Home Carpet in the amount of $11,039.56. Carl Higgs seconded the motion and it passed unanimously.

 

            Keri Liddeke, County Extension Agent 4-H, explained to the commissioners that the Extension Council is working toward compliance with IRS and sales tax regulations. She has talked to Jim Grimes regarding the matter. She said they would educate the 4-H kids and their parents regarding this.

 

            Tom Fuhrmann, Appraiser, gave an update on his department. He said real estate valuation notices would be sent out next week.

 

            The commissioners approved the disposal of the old computers in the clerk’s office.

 

            Marty Long made the motion to adjourn at 3:50 p.m. Carl Higgs seconded the motion and it passed unanimously.
