            The Board of County Commissioners met in special session at 4:00 p.m. with Chairman Madison Traster and Commissioner Marty Long present. Linda McHenry, County Clerk, was also present. The meeting was called to review a resolution authorizing a bond election for a new care home, and to appoint a temporary manager for the civic center.

 

            Marty Long made the motion to adopt Resolution 06-05 authorizing and directing the calling of a question submitted election to be held Tuesday, August 1, 2006, in Grant County, Kansas for the purpose of submitting to the qualified electors of said county a proposition to issue general obligation bonds of said county in an aggregate principal amount not exceeding $7,750,000 for the purpose of providing funds to pay the costs to acquire and prepare a site for and construct, furnish and equip thereon an elderly care home facility together with all things necessary and incidental thereto under the authority of K.SA. 19-15,114 et seq. and Article 1 of Chapter 10 of the Kansas Statutes Annotated and all amendments thereto. Madison Traster seconded the motion and it passed.

 

            Marty Long made the motion to hire Kim Swafford on a temporary basis as the Civic Center Building and Grounds Manager and compensating her at the rate of $20.00/hour. Madison Traster seconded the motion and it passed unanimously.

 

            The commissioners adjourned at 4:30 p.m. to meet again in regular session on July 5, 2006 at 9:00 a.m.
