The Board of County Commissioners met in regular session at 9:30 a.m. with all members and the County Clerk present.
Madison Traster made the motion to approve the minutes of the July 6, 2010, meeting and the claims against the various funds of the county. Marty Long seconded the motion, and it passed unanimously.
Steve Spade, A-lert Roof Systems, presented 3 options for replacing the roof at the museum. He estimated the cost for the first 2 options between $110,000 and $120,000. The third option would have a rounded roof on the area that is currently rounded, and would probably cost an additional $5,000 to $10,000. The commissioners will talk to Ginger Anthony, Museum Director, to determine what needs to be done. The commissioners will contact Mr. Spade after they have talked to Mrs. Anthony.
Marty Long made a motion to participate in the Ulysses News 2010 Visitor's Guide Books at a cost of $529.00. Madison Traster seconded the motion, and it passed unanimously.
Bids were opened on vehicles being sold by the sheriff's department. Marty Long made the motion to accept the high bid from the following individuals: $2500 from Carlos Perez for the 2000 Chevy ½ ton pickup; $900 from Estevan Atayde for the 1998 Ford Windstar van; and $3155 from Darcy Nightingale for the 1998 Chevy, ¾ ton pickup. Madison Traster seconded the motion and it passed unanimously.
Gene Pflughoft, Economic Development Director, met with the commissioners. Marty Long made the motion to recess into executive session for 15 minutes to discuss contractual matters involving the county. Madison Traster seconded the motion, and it passed unanimously. After 15 minutes the meeting continued in open session. Madison Traster made the motion to recess into executive session for 20 minutes to discuss contractual matters involving the county. Marty Long seconded the motion, and it passed unanimously. After 20 minutes, the meeting continued in open session. Following discussion, Marty Long made the motion to decline the energy grant proposal, which included hiring Mr. Pflughoft as the county's Energy Manager for 2 years. Madison Traster seconded the motion, and it passed unanimously.
