The Board of County Commissioners met as a Board of Canvassers at 9:00 am to review the ballots cast at the Special Election held July 12, 2011. Commissioners Marty Long and Carl Higgs; and County Clerk, Sheila Brown, were present. Due to an illness in her family, Commissioner Linda McHenry was unable to attend the meeting. Rita Gee, Treasurer, was appointed as the third member of the board of canvassers for the meeting.
The Special Election was requested by the City of Ulysses to ask voters to allow or deny a 1% additional retailers sales tax for a 10 year period starting October 1, 2011 and ending September 30, 2021.
No discrepancies were noted in the canvass of votes cast. Provisional ballot were processed and there was no change in the final results. The results are recorded in the Abstract of Votes Cast Journal in the office of the county clerk.
The commissioners adjourned to meet again in regular session on Tuesday, July 19, 2011.
