            The Board of County Commissioners met in regular session at 9:00 a.m. with all members and the County Clerk present.

 

The monthly department head meeting was held with the following in attendance: Sean Gooding, Emergency Medical Service Director; Frank Goldsby, Public Works Administrator; John Crosby, Fire Chief; Don Button, Emergency Management Coordinator; Lance Babcock, Sheriff; Rita Gee, Treasurer; Sherry Thompson, Health Department Administrator; and Mary K. Sullivan, Register of Deeds.

 

            Gene Schwein made the motion to approve the minutes of the August 19, 2003 meeting and to approve the claims against the various funds of the county. Madison Traster seconded the motion and it passed unanimously.

 

Henry Helmke, SKADAF, requested financial aid to help support their Halfway House Residential Services. He requested $3,000, which is $2,000 less than their request for this year. Madison Traster made the motion to approve the request for $3,000 for SKADAF for 2004. Gene Schwein seconded the motion and it passed unanimously. Mr. Schwein asked Mr. Helmke to submit future requests for funding at regular budget time in July.

 

Don Button, Emergency Management Coordinator, presented an update on his department. He went over the WPD Threat and Risk Assessment course syllabus with the commissioners. No date has been set for the course but it will be held in Grant County.

 

Ginger Anthony, Museum Curator, presented a bid to repair the roof of the adobe building and the first metal building at the museum. Madison Traster made the motion to approve the bid from Triple R Roofing not to exceed $15,965.50. Gene Schwein seconded the motion and it passed unanimously.

 

Doug Campbell, County Attorney, and Tom Fuhrmann, Appraiser, met with the commissioners. At Mr. Campbell request, Gene Schwein made the motion to recess into executive session for 15 minutes for the purpose of discussing matters of possible litigation. Madison Traster seconded the motion and it passed unanimously. After 15 minutes, the meeting continued in open session.

 

The commissioners adjourned to meet again in regular session on September 16, 2003.
