The Primary Election is August 7, 2018 but Party changes after June 1st are limited.
A law passed in 2014 by the Kansas Legislature prohibiting party members from switching parties during a period beginning June 1 through the date when the results of the August Primary are certified.
Registered voters who are affiliated with a Party (Democratic, Republican, Libertarian) may not file paperwork to change their Party affiliation from June 1 through August of this year.
A registered voter who is unaffiliated may, however, affiliate with a party during this period, or when voting at the Primary, or when requesting an advance ballot.
