County Commissioners announce recommendations for Grant County Reopening

Grant County Coronavirus (COVID-19) Response to Reopening

While Grant County officials recognize that the coronavirus remains a potential threat to our area, Grant County Commissioners along with the County Local Health Officer recommend that residents of Grant County follow the guidelines listed below:

The Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) travel-related quarantine mandate is still in effect.  An updated travel-related quarantine list can be found by checking the KDHE webpage at www.coronavirus.kdheks.gov/.

KDHE and the Grant County Health Department still have the authority to issue and mandate public health isolation and quarantine orders.  Questions can be submitted to Grant County Health Department at 620-356-1545 or gthealth@pld.com.

Beginning June 1, 2020 at 12:01 a.m.

Recommendations for Gatherings:  

  • Maintain 6-foot social distance in both indoor and outdoor settings.

Recommendations for Individuals:  

  • Masks in public settings.
  • Maintain 6-foot social distancing.
  • High-risk individuals with underlying medical conditions are encouraged to practice social distancing and minimize exposure to situations where precautionary measures may be difficult.
  • If you are sick stay home and contact your doctor.

Employers:

  • May open with safeguards appropriate for the individual business.  Safeguards will be determined by the employer.
  • Encouraged to maintain social distancing guidelines and fundamental cleaning and public health practice.
  • If involved in a positive cluster investigation, the facility could be shut down until all contact tracing and potential testing of customers and employees is complete.

Religious Services:

  • Encouraged to maintain social distancing guidelines and fundamental cleaning and public health practice.

Educational Facilities:

  • K-12 facilities should continue to follow the guidelines of the Continuous Learning Plans developed by the Kansas Department of Education.
  • Childcare facilities continue operations pursuant to state regulations.

Activities and Venues:

  • Activities and venues can safely reopen without restrictions.
  • Activities and venues such as contact and non-contact sports, outdoor sports courts, playgrounds, outdoor pools, outdoor restrooms, gyms, fitness centers, indoor and outdoor pools, locker rooms/showers, encouraged to follow the guidelines of Kansas Recreation and Park Association.

County Government:

  • All County Offices will reopen except for County Health Department and Senior Center.
  • County Health Department will have controlled public access, call for an appointment.
  • Senior Center will continue the Meals on Wheels Program and deliver meals on a normal schedule.  The center will prepare meals to hand seniors in their vehicles starting at 11:30 a.m. and end at 12:15 p.m., weekdays. There will be no indoor dining and the center is closed to public access.
  • Maintaining 6-foot social distancing is strongly encouraged in all County facilities.
