Background - Kansas reached multiple settlements with major pharmaceutical companies, distributors and related firms as part of the state's ongoing efforts to bring accountability to those that fueled the opioid addiction crisis and to provide funds to support addiction services. The settlements will result in Kansas receiving more than $340 million over the next 18 years to treat and fight opioid addition.
Settlement Distribution - Grant County joined the lawsuit and has received $16,142.91 to date in a population proportional distribution from the State of Kansas.
Grant County Commissioners decided to put some of the monies in the hands of USD 214 to help sponsor drug prevention programs. On April 4th School Superintendent Corey Burton and School Nurse Ruby Romero were presented with a check for $14,542.
